LinkedIn introduces an innovative AI-based job search system designed to expand professional opportunities through advanced data analysis. The algorithm, leveraging a large language model (LLM), identifies relevant roles beyond traditional keyword search. The system enables complex queries and suggests skills to be developed.

Key points:

  • New AI tool: LinkedIn experiments with an advanced model to improve the job search experience.
  • Going beyond keywords: AI analyzes descriptions, trends, and company data to suggest relevant roles.
  • Advanced queries: Users can make complex queries to find more suitable job offers.
  • Bias management: Implemented safeguards to ensure fairness in recommendations.

LinkedIn is experimenting with a new AI-powered job search system aimed at improving the way users identify professional opportunities on the platform. This innovative tool employs an internally developed large language model (LLM) to analyze available data and provide personalized recommendations, overcoming the limitations imposed by keyword-only searches. According to CEO Ryan Roslansky, the new approach makes it possible to uncover job openings that might otherwise be missed by traditional methods. Unlike classic searches, which rely on literal matches of terms in position titles, this tool performs in-depth analysis of role descriptions, company data, industry trends, and content shared by users.

Currently being tested by a small group of users, the system allows for complex queries, such as searching for positions that combine specific skills with certain industries or economic conditions. An example of a query might be “Find a role that allows me to apply my marketing skills to support environmental initiatives” or “Show positions in marketing with salaries over $100,000.” In addition to providing more targeted results, the AI model can identify missing skills to access certain opportunities and suggest possible training paths.

The adoption of advanced AI also raises questions about the transparency and impartiality of selections. Therefore, LinkedIn has implemented control mechanisms aimed at reducing the risk of algorithmic discrimination. As Rohan Rajiv, LinkedIn’s director of product, explained, LLM is integrated into the platform’s entire search and recommendation system, intervening from understanding user queries to ranking results. Company spokeswoman Suzi Owen also emphasized the adoption of specific security measures to prevent unintentional exclusion of candidates and mitigate any bias in the selection algorithm.

The introduction of this technology is part of a broader context of increasing integration of AI into digital services, transforming the way people interact with the web and search for information. Tools such as OpenAI’s Deep Research or Google’s AI solutions testify to how advanced data analytics is redefining the processes of finding and selecting professional opportunities.

With this new approach, LinkedIn aims to offer its users a more effective and intelligent way to explore the job market.
