CHATGPT : SECURE AND TEMPORARY CONVERSATIONS.

 

In recent years, the use of AI models such as ChatGPT, has become increasingly popular.

One of the most frequently asked questions concerns the privacy and security of conversations.

Does ChatGPT store our conversations?  The short answer is NO, but it is important to understand how ChatGPT works to better understand this aspect.

ChatGPT is a language model developed by OpenAI. It has been trained on a vast amount of text from the Internet, but it does not store individual conversations with users.

Each chat session is independent, and once it has ended, the content of the conversation is not stored ( both questions and answers).

During a session then, the information provided is processed to generate relevant answers, but this data is not then saved for future use.

" Do you learn with every conversation we have? - If I tell you something you don’t know, then will you remember it forever?"

CHATGPT RESPONSE:

 "I don’t have the ability to memorize information from one conversation to the next. Whenever you start a new conversation with me, I have no memory of previous interactions. This is intentionally designed to protect your privacy and security." 

"Although I can provide answers based on information available until my upgrade date (which is May 2023), I cannot learn or remember specific new information that is provided to me in an individual conversation." 

"My learning and improvement happens through periodic updates made by the OpenAI team, which include training on new data and model improvements. So while I cannot recall specific details from individual conversations, the model as a whole is constantly being improved and updated."

QUESTION :

" Why then do you write that the data provided stays with you?"

CHATGPT RESPONSE:

" When we talk about data remaining,we are referring to the possibility that the data from the conversations can be used by OpenAI developers to further improve and train the models in the future. However, this process is handled in a way that ensures the privacy and security of users’ personal information."

QUESTION :

"If I upload documents,do they become part of your knowledge base in any way?"

CHATGPT RESPONSE:

"No, if you upload documents during our interaction, they will not become part of my permanent knowledge base, but are used solely for the current session to provide you with answers and assistance based on the content of the documents. Your privacy and data security are a priority and any information uploaded during a session is not used outside of the current session. If you have further questions or concerns about data management, I will be happy to answer them."
