Bing soon to integrate GPT-based engine
DukeRem5 February 2023
I believe it's inevitable that within years or perhaps months, internet searches will be highly assisted by deep-learning systems, which will not just return results based on what's on web pages, but will generate more or less concise reports depending on the need.
Microsoft, with its Bing, seems ready to make this leap. As seen in previous news on this site, MS is very interested in the massive integration of ChatGPT into its products.
Bing is no exception; furthermore, it's not a leading search engine (Google is), so this radical innovation could make its use attractive to those who prefer Google today. Of course, I expect Google to respond soon with significant firepower by adding similar tools to its portal.
The interesting aspect regarding Bing is that MS seems to not use the current version of ChatGPT (which is based on GPT 3.5, which in turn is an extended and refined version of GPT 3), but even a mysterious GPT 4. This release apparently won't have significantly more training parameters, but will be a version that knows how to combine the database it was "trained" on with the results of normal internet search, to skillfully mix the two and offer the most plausible (and seemingly human) response possible.
