ASUS will unveil the Ascend GX10 on July 22, a mini-PC featuring the NVIDIA GB10 Grace Blackwell system-on-a-chip, which integrates a 20-core ARM CPU(10 Cortex-X925 and 10 A725) and a Blackwell GPU capable of delivering up to 1 petaflop in FP4, positioning it between mini-PCs and compact AI workstations. Equipped with 128GB of LPDDR5X unified memory on a 256-bit interface, it offers a bandwidth of up to 273GB/s, comparable to the Apple M4 Pro chip’s subsystem. The platform supports NVLink-C2C with speeds greater than PCIe5, PCIeGen5 slots, NVMe SSDs, USB4, and a 200GbE ConnectX-7 network interface for clustered operations – for example, two connected drives can handle models such as the 405 billion-parameter Llama3.1. At CES, NVIDIA previewed the DGX Spark project (brand name for the GB10 system), with 128GB of unified memory and 4TB of NVMe storage at around $3,000; ASUS seems to follow the same price point for the Ascend GX10. Reuters reported that 2,496 Blackwell GPUs trained a large model in 27 minutes, more than three times faster than the Hopper generation. However, Geekbench tests show that the GB10’s single-thread performance is around that of the Snapdragon X Elite and Apple M3, which is a consideration for those looking to run CPU-heavy workloads. Other manufacturers, including Dell, HP, and Lenovo, are developing similar systems based on the DGX Spark platform, but pricing and availability details remain to be determined.
The GX10 is ASUS’s bid to bring datacenter-level AI computing to a very compact form factor.
