Google has released an updated version of the Gemini2.5Pro model, with stylistic and structural changes derived from feedback. The system improves programming, math, science, knowledge and reasoning capabilities, including an expanded contextual window and multimodal modes.

Key points:

  • New Gemini2.5Pro preview available on AI Studio, VertexAI and the Gemini app.
  • Stylistic improvements: more creative and better structured responses.
  • Excellent performance in coding and STEM, with leadership in complex benchmarks.
  • 1 million token contextual window (ready to double), multimodal support for code, audio, images and video.

Google this week announced the launch of an updated preview of Gemini2.5Pro, available on AI Studio, VertexAI and the Gemini app, with enhanced programming and reasoning capabilities. A month after the first preview, this iteration reflects structural and lexical improvements introduced thanks to developer feedback. The stated goal is to make the answers not only correct, but also stylistically richer, more creative, and coherently formatted, without changing the basic concepts.

Developers will soon be able to benefit from a context window of one million tokens, capable of handling hours of audio, video, or vast codebases of up to 30,000 lines of code in a single request; Google has also anticipated that the window will soon be extended to two million tokens. This capacity facilitates complex operations such as archive analysis, system debugging, or document synthesis, while maintaining consistency and depth of context.

On the performance front, Gemini2.5Pro ranks at the top of the most rigorous benchmarks. In the LMArena tests, the model holds an advantage of +39 ELO points over competitors; in the SWE-Bench Verified test it obtains 63.8%, while on Humanity’s Last Exam it reaches 18.8%, demonstrating solidity in advanced programming and disciplinary reasoning. Multimodal capabilities – useful in interpreting text, code, audio, images and video – enable fluidly addressing integrated problems and complex scenarios.

In the enterprise, VertexAI and Duet AI already support the integration of Gemini2.5Pro, offering customization tools (prompt design, LoRA tuning, RLHF, distillation), grounding to anchor responses to corporate or web sources, and the ability to execute function calls via external APIs. On AI Studio, the availability of an API with higher request limits (up to 20 requests per minute for paid users in Vertex) enables intensive coding in the developer workflow.

Technical innovations include a step-by-step reasoning pipeline, a DeepThink mode for complex cognitive tasks, and native audio output modes for spoken responses. In the browser, Gemini2.5Flash offers faster responses, while Pro maintains its lead in complex challenges.

Many industry commentators have described Gemini2.5Pro as “state of the art” in multimodal programming and reasoning; some, in real-world benchmarks such as ResearchCodeBench studies, report that the model outperforms other state-of-the-art LLMs with a success rate of about 37% on unpublished research code.

This preview marks a tangible advance in Gemini2.5Pro’s capabilities, particularly valuable in software development, intelligent automation, data analytics, and advanced multimodal agents scenarios.
