Cinque Terre, nature defends itself with technology | What is generative ai vs ai examples | How does generative ai work | Generative ai use cases pdf | Turtles AI
The Cinque Terre Park adopts AI to contrast Overurism, managing tourist flows with predictive technologies, intelligent sensors and sustainable measures to protect the territory.
Key points:
- Intelligent traffic lights on the paths: they regulate access to the most crowded paths, activating unique senses and limiting the steps to guarantee safety and sustainability.
- Predictive software for tourist flows: analyzes climatic and historical data to anticipate the turnout peaks and suggest alternative itineraries.
- Ztl also by sea: nautical traffic control in the park waters to protect the marine ecosystem.
- Information app for visitors: offers updates in real time, even offline, helping tourists to plan less congested routes.
The Cinque Terre National Park, Ligurian jewel set between the sea and the mountains, is facing an increasingly pressing challenge: the Overurism. With over four million annual visitors concentrated in a fragile and anthropized territory, the need to manage tourist flows sustainablely has become a priority. To deal with this emergency, the Park Authority has launched an ambitious plan that integrates advanced technologies and AI, with the aim of protecting the environment and guaranteeing an authentic experience for visitors.
Among the measures adopted stand out the installation of interactive totems at the entrance of the paths, which act as a counter -lean and intelligent traffic lights, regulating access in the event of overcrowding. These devices, powered by self -grenage energy and connected via satellite, allow you to monitor in real time the density of the pedestrian flows, activating alternating unique senses on particularly frequented sections, such as the blue green path between Monterosso and Vernazza. In addition, the implementation of a Maritime Ztl contributes to controlling the influx of boats in the park protected waters.
A key element of the plan is the adoption of predictive software, developed in collaboration with the mobility company Mic Hub, which processes historical, climatic data and real -time surveys to anticipate the turnout peaks. This system allows you to issue timely alerts and suggest less congested alternative itineraries, improving the distribution of visitors in the area. The information is accessible through a dedicated app, which also provides updates in areas without telephone coverage, thanks to satellite connectivity.
The president of the park, Lorenzo Viviani, underlines the importance of a balanced approach that combines technology and respect for the environment: "technology will help us manage the flows, but it is essential to promote cultural and conscious tourism, which enhances local traditions and the identity of the territory". In this perspective, the park also aims at the decreased, encouraging visits during the less crowded periods to reduce pressure in moments of maximum influx.
The Cinque Terre propose themselves as a laboratory of good practices for the sustainable management of tourism, showing that technological innovation can be a precious ally in the safeguarding of natural and cultural heritage of priceless value.
