Apple is about to integrate Apple Intelligence into its Vision Pro headset, with the visionOS 2.4 software update scheduled for April 2025. The update will bring new AI features, including writing tools, Genmoji, and the Image Playground app, aiming to drive interest in the device.

Key Points:

  • Apple Intelligence is coming to Vision Pro with the visionOS 2.4 update, scheduled for April.
  • AI features like Writing Tools, Genmoji, and Image Playground will be integrated into the headset.
  • Siri won’t be significantly changing right away, but ChatGPT will still be integrated into Writing Tools.
  • A new guest mode will be introduced to improve device sharing.

Apple is set to release a major update for its Vision Pro headset, introducing Apple Intelligence, its suite of AI-powered tools. According to sources close to the company, the software update, scheduled for April 2025, will bring significant innovations to the device, including new features designed to improve the user experience. Among the main new features are the integration of Writing Tools, Genmoji and Image Playground, tools that until now have been available on other Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad and Mac. This marks a major step towards expanding the use of AI in the field of mixed reality, as, thanks to the M2 chip and 16GB of memory, the Vision Pro will be able to handle complex processing directly on the device. The update will be available in beta for developers starting this week, in preparation for the official release scheduled in a few months. However, there will be no major changes to Siri with this update, as the promised overhaul of the digital voice has been delayed due to technical issues and bugs that have hindered progress. While Apple’s AI functionality is getting a boost, Siri will still have to wait for a more in-depth rework. Another new feature that will accompany the update is Guest Mode, which will allow users to easily set up the device via an iPhone, making it easier to share the Vision Pro with others. The feature will allow users to decide which apps the guest can use, without having to access the headset directly, an improvement that will make the device more versatile and accessible. This update is eagerly awaited, as it aims to increase the appeal of the Vision Pro, which has seen limited sales to date, especially due to its high sales price, and to promote greater engagement with spatial content. Apple also appears to be ready to increase the immersive content offerings for the device, launching new 3D videos, including a film about Arctic surfing, accessible via its TV app for the Vision Pro. Despite the difficulties encountered in producing multimedia content for the headset, this new application aims to stimulate interest in immersive content, thus giving a boost to the mixed reality headset market.

The introduction of Apple Intelligence on Vision Pro, albeit without an overhaul of Siri, represents a strategic move to expand the device’s capabilities and increase its appeal to users, also expanding its potential in the field of AI and immersive multimedia content.
