NVIDIA is preparing to launch Blackwell GB200 AI servers by December, solving supply chain challenges. Microsoft, Oracle, and Meta will be among the first customers to receive these powerful machines that are set to transform the AI landscape. Mass production will be handled by Foxconn, Quanta, Wistron, and Luxshare.

Key Points:

  • NVIDIA’s Blackwell GB200 AI servers will be available by December 2024.
  • Microsoft, Oracle, and Meta are among the early adopters of the new architecture.
  • Mass production will be handled primarily by Foxconn, with support from Quanta, Wistron, and Luxshare.
  • Demand for the Blackwell architecture is high, with supply constraints for early 2025.

NVIDIA is set to launch its highly anticipated Blackwell GB200 AI servers later this year after addressing and resolving supply chain issues. Mass production is already well underway, with the first shipments expected in early December. The Ariel cards, which combine a Grace processor and a Blackwell unit, and the Bianca cards, which feature two Blackwell units in addition to the Grace processor, will be ready for distribution. According to reliable sources, the main recipients of these first units will be Microsoft, Oracle and Meta, companies that have already shown strong interest in this new technology. The market will only see full availability of the Blackwell servers in the first quarter of 2025, although supply may remain limited in the first few months.

The initial issues, related to TSMC’s CoWoS-L packaging technology, appear to have been resolved thanks to the close collaboration between NVIDIA and its partners. This allowed the tech giant to confirm, during a recent earnings call, that the launch is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. The production and assembly of the servers will be largely handled by Foxconn, through its industrial server division (FII), while Quanta, Wistron and Luxshare will cover the rest of the demand.

The availability of Blackwell in the mainstream market is set to mark a pivotal moment for NVIDIA, especially in a context of growing demand for advanced artificial intelligence solutions. With an already consolidated customer base and the strategic approach to solving supply chain problems, NVIDIA aims to position Blackwell as one of the key products for the near future of the company.

The distribution of the Blackwell GB200 AI servers will mark a new milestone for NVIDIA and for the technology industry as a whole.
